What food's should i eat, and not eat to help my chance of winning a swim competition?

I get foot cramps sometimes, and sometimes my stomach twists, so which foods should i eat and not eat for a better chance in winning a swim competition?

  1. well you need to eat carbs and protiens for energy and i suggest not eating atleast 2hours before the competition. I suggest foods like banana's, fish, bread and nuts. Also keep your fluids up even though your swimming take a bottle of water with you.
  2. eat carbs a day or two before a competition because it takes about 24-30 hours to digest and make the carbs work.
  3. Eat marshmallows! It works! gives you a quick energy boost. DON'T eat loads though!
  4. Good things to eat are pasta the night before, protein bar an hour or so before, lots of water all day, and a good breakfast. Bad things to try to stay away from would be sugar (like marshmallows), caffeine, discretionary calories (chips, oils) and heavy foods that don't digest well. Red meat the night before is a bad idea. I hope that helped a little bit! but worse comes to worse, stick to the food pyramid chart
